Pre-K 2 Program

(Must be 2  by September 1  of the current school year.)

Our Pre-K 2 program has been developed to be your
child’s first experience away from home in a school environment. The focus of this age group is on social interaction and verbal communication. Time is spent in exploration of their environment through play and many

hands-on activities, as well as time for stories, songs, fingerplays and small and large motor development.

Pre-K 3 Program

(Must be 3 by September 1 of the current school year.)

Our Pre-K 3 Program includes time for social interaction, further language development, increased development in small and large motor skills; including structured small and large group times. The children will explore their environment through many diverse hands-on experiences and play.

Pre-K 4

(Must be 4 by September 1 of the current school year.)

Our Pre-K 4 program provides an opportunity for the child to explore with materials, ideas, and personal relationships as a firm foundation for their future in kindergarten. This is a Pre-Kindergarten readiness program.

Kindergarten/*Transitional Kindergarten Program

(Must be 5 by December 15 of the current school year.)

Our 3/4-day Kindergarten program is designed to meet and exceed the expectations of a typical kindergarten program. The small class size allows more one-on-one interaction between the student and the teacher. Learning to function in a group, yet maintaining their individuality is our goal. Our approach to the Core may be a little more hands-on, but the goals are to meet and exceed the standard. Each child will be encouraged to advance at his/her own pace.

Our program is recognized by the MSDE. Children who meet the kindergarten age requirement (5th birthday by Aug. 31, 2023) and complete our program are eligible for SMCPS 1st grade in the 2023/2024 school year.

*What is Transitional Kindergarten at our school? Our Transitional Kindergarten is in combination with our Kindergarten program and is for the child who is ready for a more advanced, structured program (think kindergarten work), but will not turn 5 until fall 2023. SMCPS will not recognize this as kindergarten completion, your child will have to test into that if that is the direction you choose to take. You must contact SMCPS for more information.

Class choice of TK must be a recommendation from your child’s current Pre-K teacher or an interview with our school K teacher will be necessary to make sure this is a good fit for your child.
